It is hard to find preachers who would limit their surmising of “our eternal home” to what the Bible presents, even when God has revealed it in much detail in the book of Revelation.

Govett takes the admittedly less popular view that everything in the description of the New Jerusalem should be taken literally. The result is a very tedious study where it may be difficult to see the forest from the trees. Perhaps the most thematic aspect of this work is the recurring differentiation between the Jews, the Gentiles and the Church of God, all of whom are seen as having their own particular blessings, stations and privileges in the eternal age. This helps clarify what is commonly confused in less careful reading.
