Sins Before Faith & Sins After Faith
by Robert Govett; 48 pgs
The Believer's Standing in Grace and Under Responsibility
Robert Govett shows that the New Testament teaches emphatically that the believer in Christ enjoys forgiveness of all sins, and possesses the righteousness of God.
-“Therefore, being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Rom. 6:1)
-“Through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins, and from all things from which you could not in the law of Moses be justified, in him everyone that believeth is justified” (Acts 13:38-39)
Present complete forgiveness is the Church’s abiding position in Christ.
However, believers should not think that there are no consequences to sins after faith. Robert Govett shows in the scriptures that:
-God may judge sinning believers in this life, and
-We will face an accounting for and judgment of our sins after faith at Christ’s appearing at the end of the age, not for eternal life but for the kingdom reward or loss.
