Christ's Judgment of His Saints
by Robert Govett (1813-1901)
68 pgs.
Robert Govett’s study of the Lord’s words to the 7 churches in Revelation 2 & 3 questions the common teaching that–
“The church is to be treated in the Day of Judgment on the sole principle of mercy.”
2 excerpts suffice for this point:
-To Sardis
“If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will arrive over thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I shall arrive over thee.” These believers are to be treated as the world at the Lord’s return. There is therefore no “rapture of the church” at Christ’s coming; but only the ascent of the watchful ones.
-To Laodicea
“So then because thou hast been lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am about to spew thee out of my mouth.” This is not grace, but judgment according to desert.
